After-work photo session, with H as creative director. Heiko is starting to understand the "funny faces" idea, which is, well, funny.

We found some time this weekend to get out into our backyard, exploring the reeds and the beach and the mud that the melting ice is leaving behind. Thank goodness for rubber boots. Heiko turned to me as we were mucking along and just said "hah-pee". Aww, me too kid.

Spring is coming, apparently. The ice is slowly melting.

Sunny dinner time! One of the Brussels sprouts escaped the oven but provided H with some pre-meal entertainment.

Well, it looks like H caught P's post-conference cold, so it was a drippy nose kind of day.
Still, it didn't stop us from going outside (H has learned the word "walk"), mixing up a batch of cookies ("koo-keesh"), and then having a comprehensive splash in the sink. The day was O.K. in the end.

74 days into 2014: my first run of the year. You see, first there was all that ice, an then there was the bitter cold. And then worcester happened! With all the snow and stuff. Oh, it happened. If worcester is bad for pedestrians, then worcester joggers are a special breed. But today I entered their ranks. After bemoaning the lack of opportunities for hill training in Fort Collins, now all I have is hill training. So these legs will feel it tomorrow.
But this was an exercise in trying to grab ahold of some small bit of sanity. It has been a rough week.

I don't know if this was a good idea or a great idea, but I brought borscht to work for lunch. Good thing a) it wasn't a teaching day, and b) I was wearing my borscht coloured sweater.
Speaking of borscht induced chaos, turns out heiko likes beets.

Hey! Linear algebra is o.v.e.r.  Well, once I get through this pile of marking that is. But then it is done! I'm halfway through Worcester! Womp womp.  And I have a week of no teaching before I head into a calculus vortex. And the weather looks like it is going to warm up this weekend. And we have 1000mL of Canadian maple syrup to pull us through these next two months. We are going to be OK ("okie yeah!" says Heiko).

Maybe I'll wait up to see the moon set over the lake. Or maybe I won't.

Doing a driving tour of worcester we passed a neglected playground. Finalee!!!! Heiko was in heaven!
